Can I Return My Hamster to Petsmart?
The answer is yes, you can! There are a few things to watch out for, though. Only one hamster can per day enter and leave its cage at a time, so you must be careful not to overfeed or overcrowd it.
Hamsters also love sugar so look for hamsters that have been given plenty of food and/or water. If your hamster does not seem happy or looks sick, it may be time to return it to Petsmart.
Can I Return My Hamster Any Time That It Is Adequately Fed and watered?
The answer is yes! Hamsters enjoy being fed and/or watered every few hours.
Provide proof of purchase
If you’re able to return your hamster to Petsmart without a valid proof of purchase, you could face a situation where your hamster is returned with nothing else but a bill.
This isn’t the case if you were able to purchase your hamster at Petsmart. You would have received a piece of paper that proved you owned it before they allowed them in the cage.
If this happens, don’t worry as you just assisted in helping poor little Hamsters feel more secure.
You can help them feel more comfortable by providing them with toys and supplies they can play with.
Clean the cage thoroughly
While hamsters are very social, they are not the cleanest animal. You should avoid giving your hamster any human products such as salad or fruits because they do not eat or process food.
Instead, you can provide her with a small amount of vegetables and fruits she can easily pick up. This helps create a more friendly, social environment in your cage.
You should make sure to keep the leaves and vegetables clean by removing any pieces that hamsters may swallow or that enter the cage. Make sure to wash these items immediately to prevent them from decaying or becoming moldy.
Make sure to keep your cage in a climate-controlled environment to prevent any health issues such as overheating or freezing.
Make sure there is food and water
If your hamster is not eating or drinking enough, it is important to ensure that she is getting enough nutrition. She should be eating and sleeping enough to make her poo and urine look normal.
You can watch her every few hours to make sure she is sleeping and eating and drinking. If she looks like she is not taking in enough food or water, she should be brought to a certified hamster vet who can give her the necessary treatment.
A certified hamster vet can determine if your hamster has health issues that require a surgery or medication, such as intestinal blockage, kidney failure, etc. A surgery would only be done by a qualified surgeon so make sure you get someone with experience at your vet’s office.
When looking for a pet store, make sure they are in a safe area where you do not need to take your pet out.
Bring the hamster back to Petsmart
If you think your hamster has a health issue, you can bring her back to Petsmart and ask for help. The retail staff at Petsmart can probably help with any issues they may have and/or transfer protocols with other stores.
Many times the owner is just not aware of the health issues or does not know how to care for it. At a serious issue, thehamster may be euthanized or put down. If the hamster was suffering, this is what happens!
If you take your hamster to the vet, make sure to tell the vet about any health issues that may have caused resistance to medicine.
Receive your refund
If you can return your hamster to Petsmart, you can receive a refund. There are some rules and regulations that Petsmart has to follow regarding hamsters.
To be allowed in their store, a hamster must be at least 19 weeks old and have been up-to-date on their shots. You must also find it locked in a cage with an adequate amount of space!
If you have any questions about being allowed to take your hamster to the vet or for medical care, then contact the store beforehand.
Consider trying another pet store instead
When you visit a pet store, you’re putting your hamster in extreme danger. The animals at the store are often handled, trapped, and/or adoptable transferred quickly to other homes.
This is not the case when you visit the vet or go to a pet shelter. At the shelter, hamsters can be stuck in cages for days on end and unavailable for adoption.
At the vet, hamsters can be trapped in tiny vials and exposed to heatstroke or cold-stunning. These conditions cannot be replicated at a different pet store where you cannot stay confined or where adoption rates are lower due to more public awareness.
You are also taking more risks with your hamster when he is at a pet store.
Talk to a manager about your experience with the pet
If you have an experience with a hamster that does not meet the above criteria, you can talk to a manager at Petsmart about your experience. A manager can answer questions such as how long they take to show interest in someone, whether they were friend or not treated well, and if they were able to be handled, if they would enjoy living in a container, or any other questions.
They can also ask if you would like a refund or another pet because of this experience. If yes, then the pet will be placed in your care.
If not, then you could try looking for a new pet! There are many online sites that help people find pets.
